Kamchatka Land of 10,000 Bears, Part 1

by david on December 17, 2019

I have heard from some of you that you enjoyed reading about my NC bear hunting adventure. I had such a good time I decided to try another bear hunting adventure in a far away (16 time zones away) place and I enjoyed myself immensely. I hope you enjoy my telling of the adventure and perhaps encourage you to go on one of your own. Please tune for new post every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Kamchatka Land of 10,000 Bears

I met the folks at Antares-M/Chubook Kamchatka about two years ago. Their booth was across from the booth I was working in during the Great American Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Mikhail Malashenko and his son Vasily were selling their companies hunting trips to Kamchatka, Russia and I was helping a friend sell his hunts in Africa. Over the last two years we have talked and become friends. There are slow period during the show week and I took the opportunity to learn about Kamchatka and the giant bears living there. I decided a trip there to hunt was definitely on my “to do list”.  I originally was thinking 2020; however, when other plans fell through in late February of 2019, I decided to move things up if possible. Mikhail and Vasily guided me through the process and I left for Russia about 60 days after I decided I wanted to go. Aside from the government visa (which they had no control over), everything went as smooth as silk. If you decide you want to hunt with them, check out their website: https://hunting-experience.com.
