Africa is a value. Once you get there, it is not overly expensive to be there. Hunting camps vary greatly depending on where you are and what you want to hunt. That being said, hunting 4-5 head of plains game is often cheaper than a guided elk hunt here in the US. That is somewhere in-between $7000-$10000. Touring can vary greatly as well but, as a for instance, my better half, another couple, and I are spending 12 days in country visiting three different lodges, a house boat including a private air charter for less than $500 per person, per day. While you may think both of these sound somewhat expensive, and they sort of are, but you get a lot. Included are: transfers between locations, 4-5 star accommodations, three gourmet meals a day, laundry, game drives, guides, some include alcoholic drinks, and just about anything else you could want. Cheap, no, but a great value, most definitely.
