We purposely did not plan anything for today as we wanted to get the feel of the local terrain before deciding on plans for the day. We felt a morning to sleep in might be nice as well. Last night, we discussed going back to the falls to spend some more time on the lower level of the falls and to play it by ear the rest of the day. The sleeping-in plan worked well, and was the only part of the plan that went well. Even though it held off until midmorning, we awoke to heavy rain, thunder, and lightning. The storm, unfortunately, stayed around all morning. Eventually about 12:45 there was a lull and we struck out for a bite of lunch. We did not even make it to the corner before it started coming down again.
We took shelter as best we could under the canopies covering the fronts of several of the shops. We had to cross the street as some point and we made a dash for a large red awning two buildings down the block. It happened to be the awning for “El Arbol Real”. It was a restaurant that reminded me of the diners of the 1950s. We discovered it sold hamburgers and decided to give it a try. Four burgers and four orders of fries were ordered and we sat down to eat. It turned out to be a wise decision, as the burgers and fries were very good. We had to wonder about some of the toppings, though, as eggs, ham and a few of the others were foreign to our palates.
After lunch, it was still raining at a pretty good clip and we had to make a decision soon if we were going back to the falls. “A Piacere” was just down the street so we decided to head for their awning to see if we could access their Wi-Fi outside. There was an 80% chance of rain until about 4:00. After 4:00, the forecast changed slightly and the percentage became 90%. It was back to the condo and where I spent a few quiet hours catching up on
