Safari 2012 Journal Entries: Day 11 – Thursday, July 26th, 2012 (Osonjiva part 6)

Spooky animals are the norm for the rest of the morning, with us seeing several groups of waterbuck and trying to get close to them.  We get close, barely get a chance to glass, and then something known only to the waterbuck sends them galloping away at full speed.  The shooting sticks never go up, much less me get on them.  It is close to lunchtime and I am worn out.  In addition to all the miles we put on the truck, I would guess we walked between five and six miles.  I am only too happy when Johann points us back towards the truck and declares an end to the morning’s activities.  We take a roundabout way back to the lodge and it dawns on me Johann is making use of the drive to do some scouting.  What he notices is the interior waterholes seem to have more activity than the ones out in the open.  Maybe the wind in there is not quite so bad after being baffled down by the trees and brush.  This is where we will start after lunch.
