Reloading the 9.3×62 Mauser

by david on April 13, 2012

The 9.3×62 Mauser was introduced in 1905 by Otto Brock.  The cartridge was designed to give the German settlers in Africa a cartridge powerful enough to stop anything on the continent.  They needed a round the farmers and common folk could afford.  The 9.3×62 was just the ticket.  The more famous .375 Holland and Holland Magnum that was introduced seven years later in 1912 is only marginally more powerful adding approximately 200 foot pounds on energy with the same bullet weights.  While minimum for dangerous game like buffalo and elephant it will do the job just fine if the hunter puts the bullet in the right place. Over the years this has been my go to cartridge for my everyday carry rifle and I never feel ill equipped  to handle whatever comes along.   If you are interested I have a short reloading demonstration video on YouTube.
